Moleskine Art of the Week
We love Moleskine Art – I mean, Moleskines and Artists go together hand in hand. There are tons of creatives out there – from professionals to dilettantes, portrait artists to doodlers, who turn first to Moleskine. So we turn to them, and salute!

Via 201169 on Skineart, we love the above use of a Moleskine plain notebook! 201169 also has a blog you should read: the background to this piece? Like all of us, he wanted a Lamy pen and that desire manifest itself in an outburst of pen, ink, colour and machinations. Just the sort of doodling that greater works spring from.

Moleskine notebook of the Week!

The all new Folio range has landed at NoteMaker and we love love the A3 Watercolour Album! Look at how big it is! Just what any art loving, ink loving, Moleskine loving type has gotta be loving!

The Notebook
A simple black rectangle with lined, squared, or blank pages, held by an elastic band and an inside pocket for loose sheets. Perhaps history’s most trusted notebook, it guarded notes, stories, ideas, thoughts, art and impressions before they turned into the pages of beloved books, the canvasses of revered art.
Chatwin has said of his Moleskine – the notebook progenitors of his works from In Patagonia to On The Black Hill – that ‘Losing my passport was the least of my worries, losing a notebook was a catastrophe’.
And in the same way, owning a Moleskine is a must for capturing all thoughts, all inspiration.

The Diary
A Moleskine diary isn’t just a diary. It’s a diary of legendary proportions. Countless numbers of the history’s greatest and most interesting characters have all carried their black Moleskine – the common thread from the chromatisms of Van Gogh to the witticisms of Hemingway!
It is doubtless that some of history’s biggest events found their first expression upon the pages of a Moleskine notebook or diary. Originally, Moleskine notebooks were sold at a Parisian stationery shop, frequented by the avant-garde. They took their Moleskines all over the world with them, and the word quickly spread.
And continues to this day to do so. Still amongst the avant-garde, yet permeating the business elite and the intellectual sphere, the Moleskine diary has been there – keeping the very passage of time.

The Legend
For two centuries now Moleskine (mol-a-skeen’-a) has been the legendary notebook of creatives, writers, intellectuals and travelers. From gifted artists Henri Matisse (1869–1954) and Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890), to poet and leader of the surrealist movement André Breton (1896-1966) to perhaps the most influential writer of the 20th century – Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) – and famous travel writer Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989).
Moleskine is the one true trusted travel journal. It’s not just the style, the quality or the legacy which attracts people the world over to Moleskine, rather, it is simply a well-made book that can be a trusted, a reliable companion that is always at the ready.
Travellers, professionals, writers, artists…the Moleskine legacy – it’s refusal to fade into ephemera, it’s persistence and longevity amongst the elite – shows us how simple tools assist, nay engender, inspiration
